black and blue and striped too!

today i had a presentation so i figured i'd put a little effort into my outfit :)

i went with a black and blue scheme and that was the first time i wore that top...
i think i like it :)

since i can't seem to make myself have an outfit of only non-bright colors, i threw on some happy-bright shoes!

i have these in this yellow and in orange and i'm telling you... super comfy!

Disney Day 2: Tangled

Because today was TOMS' One Day Without Shoes, we decided to let Tangled be our inspiration, as Rapunzel prefers to go barefoot.

However, because I don't like being barefoot, I decided to use Flynn Rider as my inspiration.

It seems as though I can't smolder.

Obligatory feet picture:

week of Disney - day 1

today is monday.
on any normal monday these two princesses would be subjected to the trials of the scholastic challenge
BUT today is the day after Easter and the powers that be have decided to be gracious and allows us this small favor: to be relieved of a day's worth of trial by teacher. yay!

today is also the first day of disney week!

today i was Cinderella.  sweeping out the basement. (really. i had to clean the basement of the art building.)

also i found this. awesome.

wish i had a few of these to bring to kindergarden...

love & lovelys

dear heavens me...
i would like to apologize for my utter disappearance into blogging nothingness.  my only excuses: school and simple procrastination.

so here are a few things to fill the space.

things i'm loving

#1

oook so i was a bit disheartened that Picnik is disappearing until... i found Pixlr
Pixlr is ahh-mazing.  it's like automatic photoshop! you can take a simple picture and turn it into etherial with a few clicks.  i took this one...

and turned it into
this one...

amazing right?!?!

#2
more love...

amid my procrastination, i found this darling, charming, and happy blog: Apple Blue
aaaaand not only is this blog fab-u-los, she is having an amazing giveaway!  An adorable wallet, fabric, darling headband from Sunshine and Carousels (their stuff is supper amazing cute), not to mention the sweet robin-egg blue vintage kitchen timer.

#3
my new camera

unfortunately i don't have a picture of me with my new camera but Cammie is tried and true and fabulous.  i bought her from my sister who is a photographer because she upgraded to a better camera.   i love using Cammie, a Canon Xti.. fabulous...  the bridal pictures below i shot with Cammie on a joint bridal shoot i did with my sister.

#4
tarzan

the original movie. the silent one. the first time around.
now this is interesting because i am not exactly a Tarzan fan.. as in  i saw the animated version like 2 time and the old black and white once.. long time ago.  but then i found out that weekend after next there is a tarzan festival in honor of the anniversary of the original film because it was filed here in Louisiana!  and the Shreveport Symphony concert master and local branch of NPR classical radio host wrote a score for the film especially in honor of this anniversary celebration...
i'm suddenly excited about tarzan...
which is strange... i was always weirded out by his oddly large toes in the cartoon version.

#5
literacy!

Rock the Drop!
in honor of Support Teen Literacy Day gather up any books you don't want, or ones you want to share and on 4/12, a thursday, deposit them in public places to be picked up and enjoyed by a curious mind.

grab this here image, print it out, and affix it to the cover and spread the love of literature!

lovely things
brides

a certain ms. Katie Daisy has a shop on Etsy call The Wheatfield and it is filled to the brim with lovely water colors of lovely sayings and images.  such as this sweet reminder that we are special, beautiful, and loved.

also lovely... these are some of my favorites from the shoot i did with my sister.  i tossed them into Pixlr, tossed them around a bit and hey, got some pretty decent edits :)

so many lovely things fill my lovely, yet busy, life!

love you all...

Rooftop Picnic #2 + W2P birthday #2

Today, Juju and I decided to have a picnic on the roof. Again.

The menu:
pasta (with multicolored noodles)
steamed broccoli
parmesan knots
sweet tea
mini cupcake (for celebratory reasons)

We recently realized something very important.

We Two Pair is now two years old!

So we had to have celebrating, of course. Enter: the mini cupcake.

We had to go all Gallagher Girl again this year. Last year, we had to come up with a makeshift candle (and plus there was that whole carpet plus lit match thing). This year, we had to battle the wind to light the candle and keep it burning until it was time to blow it out.

We continued our tradition of singing Happy Birthday to us.

Since we like celebrating so much, and since a very important day is approaching (the release day of the fifth Gallagher Girls book!), we lit another candle and wished the girls from our favorite book series Happy Adventures. For some reason, we had difficulties getting this accomplished.

And of course, we celebrated in style.

More outfit photos here.

heyguesswhat!!!

iiiit's HAT WEEK again!!

so to start off another week dedicated to delightful toppers (now that it's finally cold enough to wear a hat without having your head melt off) here is what i wore for church tonight!

jb darling didn't wear her hat because she was a little discomobobulated (yes that's a real word)... she got rearended yesterday 8/  and ht week officially starts tomorrow!!! yay!!

so i have my "wonder woman" dress (it has that cool squiggy thing on the waist) and vintage gold gloves from before and a vintage pillbox!  hot pink no less :)  getting dressed i was running around looking for the hat pins but to no avail... so i just had to not move around a whole lot :)

i'll try to post some detail pictures later.

we are still alive... i promise :)

dear lovely friends

i know it seem that jb and i have plumb fallen off the face of the earth but we haven't... i promise :)   apparently our teachers don't care that we're trying to keep up a blog!! anyway we have pictures from two "events' to post... which i will try to make happen this week.  we're on Thanksgiving break this week and i'm going to be trying to get things done like crazy!  i won't make any promises except to try to get these up by sunday.   tomorrow morning i'm planning to get some pictures of my sister in this cool little abandoned house on my grandparents ranch (where i am for a few days)... i'll try, sometime soon, to scan in and post some other pictures i took out here...

anyway, while trying to work on my design project ;) i stumbled across this cool website that creates word bubbles... you can copy/paste a body of text or a url and it will organize the text by how many time they occur... super cool :)
so i put in WeTwoPair and voila!

i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time....
i will no....
ooo hey i could do jane austen!!!

Posting as Mrs. Dork

Why, hello. My name is Mrs. Dork.

Yeah, I haven't posted since I got married (or much before I did, due to crazy wedding stuff), and, hello self, you've been married for almost a month!

So basically this is my Hi-I've-got-a-new-name-now and I'm-married-now-!!!! post.

Juju and I have had very busy summers, full of weddings (fine, just mine), adventures in Belize, camp, and more adventures. I'll be honest, I'm not even sure where all Juju has been this summer, since she hasn't stopped going! And it's really hard to get by without seeing your BFF for a MONTH!

We wish we were able to blog more, but life oftentimes gets in the way. However, we have some super cool/rad/awesome ideas for the upcoming months! And since we will actually be able to see each other almost every day at school, it makes blogging so much easier.

So stay tuned for some fun new challenges!

Hearts and cupcakes!

time marches on..

oh.my.flippin.goodness.GRACIOUS!!!!
i'm out at my grandparents ranch in west texas and it is hot and dry like nobody's business...there is only grass where the hose is running and where the windmill tank has run over...   not to mention that, after a neighbors violation of the burn ban, a good chunk of the ranch has burned, leaving nothing but a ghastly, charred, and spindly reminder of what was once there.  so in remembrance of what used to be and to memorialize the beauty within the burn, a friend, angela, and i went out and took pictures amid the remains.  most of the images are on film from my old pentax but we did get a few shots via iPhone.  i will get the prints scanned and posted (but don't hold your breath... you might pass out before i get them up.. (;  ).

today angela and i went into town to hit up the local resale shops before they closed and believe you me, we got it big time!  i went into town with $50 and came back with $17 and two armloads of stuff and a gallon of milk and 5 bananas :)   so i'll be going home with a total of 3 new/old suitcases, 5 vintage thermoses, and 5 new pictures in the frame, 2 more vintage cameras (and a flash) and one pair of vintage ice skates!  no, i'm not a hoarder... i'm a collector ;)

here's a bit of my score

sorry about the terrible picture.. i think the camera on my phone has like 3 megapixs :/

i'll have to post  better pic of that fantastic 70's mini dress that in the center.. it's colors are super crazy and it's super cute!!

until now...

my life, especially in the summer, is like one giant fruit salad...  i'm a mango and my summer activities are different fruits that are all chopped up and tossed together... so far my salad is pretty full of variety and it's only the middle of july!  as jb and i have both been busy out of our wits, our posting has been a little.. well.. nonexistent i guess you could say :/ tomorrow another fruit will be added to the salad.. but fruit is a rather strange way to refer to one of the largest events in my best friend's life... a beautiful ceremony that will mark the beginning of her life as half of a greater whole, the "better half" of something beautiful.

(please note that the above portion was written the day before the wedding but, procrastinator that i am, i am just now finishing it.  by this time the happy couple is somewhere off in the Caribbean.. )

anyway.. here is a sampling of the princess and the party :)
i can't wait to see the pictures from the photographer!!

anyway :)
i'm in the process of travelling to florida for a sort of family vacation...
(i saw process because it's going to take us about 4 days to get there... we only live in louisiana but we have friends and relatives all in between so we have to stop and stay the night or at least for coffee...)
(i say sort of because my dad has to go anyway for a big conference...)
so i'll try to take cool pictures... somehow since i currently have no camera
(digital that is... i'm going to take some with my vintage Pentax but i'll have issues trying to upload them (; but i shall try! )

toodles!

the wheels on the bus go round and roundandroundandroud

by Julianne Smoak on Monday, 23 May 2011 at 19:48
and round and round and up and down and up and down...

soooo it's been a very interesting weekend... saturday Aimee (one of the girls from the hostel) and i went to belize city to meet up with victoria and catch the bus to Punta Gorda.  longer story made short... vicitoria caight the bus bus they didn't and so we were riding long and had some very interesting riding companions... i drew pictures of our adventures so i'll post those soon :)  we didn't get there till it was like wayy dark and we were almost the last ones off the bus and we had to walk down the street to the place.. ooo creepy anyway the matres was comfortable and, thankfully, that's all that mattered.  in the morning we went down to Grace's for breakfast and internet and wound up missing the first bus t the festival... (they moved it the ruins so it wasn't in town)  so we dicided to hang out and catch the next bus... while we were waiting we met these two little local girls, they were so cute :) so we waited and waited and waited and the 11:00 bus came around 12:30 and once we got on we realize that the trip there, was one way was going to be one hour.... not cool...  so we got back off and went back to Grace's for lunch and more internet...  we had to catch the 4:00 bus back to belize city to catch the last water taxt back to caye caulker ( or so we thought)  thankfully there just happened to be a earlier one so we caught that one.  the trip back also  had some tarveling doozies... there was this one drunk guy... oo that was fun (and also in my travel drawings (: )    upon getting into the city, in the dark, we figured that the water taxis would not be running.. they don't exactly have headlights...   so we got a very nice taxi man to take us to a nice safe hotel.  when we got there it was a tad sketchy but we weren't going to be picky :/ it turned out to be rather nice...  after a good nights sleep we got up early in the morning to catch the first water taxi to the island.  when we got here we couldn't find gary... took us a while to find him but anyway...  after a bit we took the canoe out for a spin... which is mostly what we did...  the wind and current and paddeling weren't really working together...  we met this boy, domonique, who showed us some stuff in the water, fish and stuff ... he found a large orange starfish and we got to hold it!!!     to round out our day we took a shopping trip to the local markets for eating supplies. with much assistance from a fellow hostelite, megs, we concocted a sort of belezian mac & cheese and a veggie toss...  both were quite tasty :) so now were just chilling !

and here are pictures...

best little homemade corn dog ever!

this guy wrote the Belize national Independence song..and this is his band :)

the place behind me in this picture is where we stayed in Belize City...
the place with the razor wire...  super interesting...                                                      this is the lighthouse
