so last night, after my last post, on the way home i stopped at the video store. while browsing the shelves i spotted Last Holiday with Queen Latifa, which i have been wanting to see. well as i was watching it i got to thinking, this is almost exactly what i wrote in the blog earlier today. it was amazing to hear the sentiments expressed in my post spoken so well and with such integrity. one of the best scenes is when she is explaining her situation to the elite group she met on her trip, after an attempt was made for her humiliation. it's just beautiful. Queen portrays this role so wonderfully and with heartwarming sincerity.

i will try to post a clip up soon.

dare i ask...

do you ever, when you get the rare chance to, stop and think about what happens to all of our time? i won't go listing all those statistics about how many hours people spend sleeping, eating, watching tv, or waiting at red lights, those are just a waste of time.
however i will mention for your brain to reflect upon at a later time the broader concept of how we are spending our life.
we use so much brain power (speaking relative to the amount of brain activity we use on a daily basis, and not to how much our brains are capable of, which is another whole story) worrying about how we are going to order our day, take care of our to-do list and what we will be having for supper.
sometimes we don't even think think much at all, we simply wake up to an alarm set to a certain time, and so follows the rest of our day, ooop time to do this, oop time to do that.
so comfortable in routine and in our own little world (and let me tell you some people's world is only big enough for them and don't you dare mess that up because then they won't know what to do) that we forget we are alive and well and surrounded by amazing people, places, sight, feelings, and opportunities for a little adventure.
sometimes we are too busy in the head to look and look around.
our lives are booked till we're 65 and by then we will be worn out and grouch and nobody in the nursing home will really like you but they will all piety you because they know that you could be more if you would only open up a little.
is a mundane job just for the paycheck really worth doing nothing with your life? or even an exciting one that is eating up all of your time worth not having any stories to tell your grandkids that do not involve the stock market or a business trip or companies selling out to somebody else?
do something a little daring to day, buy a hot dog from that guy on the corner, meet someone new, take a vacation, eat your veggies, get an ice cream cone (it's better that way, that or right out of the carton), buy one for the person behind you, smile at someone, hold the door open..... go out on a limb... that's where the good stuff is.

This just in: we dont have class tomorrow

hello snow!

this morning i woke up to beautiful snow falling.... which isn't that unusual except that it NEVER snows in February... in Louisiana..... like ever never.. we're lucky to get a little smattering every 3 years and now this is about the third time it has snowed since November. anyway some of the girls in my morning music theory class decided to go out and throw little bits at each other (there hasn't been enough to stick to make snowballs) and then proceeded to attempt to slid down the slope (hardly a hill)... i hope they enjoyed themselves :-)

jb and i took a foot pic with the snow!! we also took one of our tights since we both wore cute ones today!
they'll be up soon!!!
