we are still alive... i promise :)

dear lovely friends

i know it seem that jb and i have plumb fallen off the face of the earth but we haven't... i promise :)   apparently our teachers don't care that we're trying to keep up a blog!! anyway we have pictures from two "events' to post... which i will try to make happen this week.  we're on Thanksgiving break this week and i'm going to be trying to get things done like crazy!  i won't make any promises except to try to get these up by sunday.   tomorrow morning i'm planning to get some pictures of my sister in this cool little abandoned house on my grandparents ranch (where i am for a few days)... i'll try, sometime soon, to scan in and post some other pictures i took out here...

anyway, while trying to work on my design project ;) i stumbled across this cool website that creates word bubbles... you can copy/paste a body of text or a url and it will organize the text by how many time they occur... super cool :)
so i put in WeTwoPair and voila!

i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time
i will not use this to waste time....
i will no....
ooo hey i could do jane austen!!!

time marches on..

oh.my.flippin.goodness.GRACIOUS!!!!
i'm out at my grandparents ranch in west texas and it is hot and dry like nobody's business...there is only grass where the hose is running and where the windmill tank has run over...   not to mention that, after a neighbors violation of the burn ban, a good chunk of the ranch has burned, leaving nothing but a ghastly, charred, and spindly reminder of what was once there.  so in remembrance of what used to be and to memorialize the beauty within the burn, a friend, angela, and i went out and took pictures amid the remains.  most of the images are on film from my old pentax but we did get a few shots via iPhone.  i will get the prints scanned and posted (but don't hold your breath... you might pass out before i get them up.. (;  ).

today angela and i went into town to hit up the local resale shops before they closed and believe you me, we got it big time!  i went into town with $50 and came back with $17 and two armloads of stuff and a gallon of milk and 5 bananas :)   so i'll be going home with a total of 3 new/old suitcases, 5 vintage thermoses, and 5 new pictures in the frame, 2 more vintage cameras (and a flash) and one pair of vintage ice skates!  no, i'm not a hoarder... i'm a collector ;)

here's a bit of my score

sorry about the terrible picture.. i think the camera on my phone has like 3 megapixs :/

i'll have to post  better pic of that fantastic 70's mini dress that in the center.. it's colors are super crazy and it's super cute!!

SEE ROCK CITY!!! (well Rock Springs actually)

i'm spending fall break out at my grandparents ranch in west texas and i don't want to leave... i love it so much here.   yesterday evening i went out and picked prickly pears and peeled them after supper (a rather arduous task, to be sure... best to wear gloves of some sort because those prickles get everwher).  i'm not quite sure what i'm going to do with them...
my mom called me around 11:30 on wednesday and said hey you want to go to the ranch this afternoon. and i was like yeah you didn't even have to ask...  so we left Shreveport around 7:30 and drove 8 1/2 hours and got here at 4 in the morning, came in and got in bed and surprised everybody in the morning!!
me, logiBear, and my little sis, Katelyn Rose
my cousin, Logan, is leaving for Iraq next week and this was the last time we would get to spend with him, and it was fabulous :)
we loooove our logan!!

we've had a ton of fun!!

yesterday a few of us decided to drive over to Rock Springs to check out the local scene.. well we set out on a mission: to find the shorter route.. like ole Chris Colom.  well we drove on all  the roads, all over the ranches between here and there, trying to find our way there... we were driving around for 3 hours trying to get to a town that was 27 miles away.   we would have been going around, so very lost, for longer except that we ran into one of the ranch workers (not literally) and he told us how to go...
one of the ranches, about the 3d time we passed it, i said stop i've got to go to the bathroom... i didn't know how long we'd be wandering around and i wanted to jump at the chance of a real bathroom while it was an option... well there wasn't anyone there but i was determined to use a bathroom and sure nuff' they had a big'ole nice out building with two full baths!!
when we finally got to town, in less than 2 minutes we were stopped at a garage sale and i bought my first pair of cowgirl boots for $12 :-)
(mother says i had some when i was little but that doesn't count...)
then we went for lunch at the tiny little bar-b-q place... sooo fabulous
and we met this deaf boy there, and i know a little so we talked to him a bit.. my uncle know a wee little bit too and his son, who's about the same age, knows a lot so he's going to get them together online so they can talk :-)
all in all it was a fun adventure... and it took us much less time to get back ;)

well tata for now!!
